History:
In 1996 farmers and forest rangers established the organization “Pro Forest” with the goal to bring nature – in particular the water and the forest with all its living creatures be it animal or plant – closer to kids by teaching at the sites mainly focussing on elementary and high school classes but gladly offering to share their knowledge with all people who were interested. In 1996 100 children attended those guided tours and classes. By 1999 the number of participants had increased to 500. Based on that tremendous success “Classroom Forest” was established in 2000 with more locations close to schools to keep the costs for bus tours economic, with a sufficient number of teachers to keep up and to increase the high standards and to be able to dedicate the maximum amount of time to each participant. Approx. 40000 people attended “Classroom Forest” activities over the last 10 years.
Reorganization:
In 2004 “Classroom Forest” started to cooperate with camping companies and travel agencies who advertised the “Classroom Forest” activities in their brochures, again leading to an increased number of guided tours which due to ambition and dedication of the team could be handled successfully.
The secret of the team:
The knowledge of the farmers and rangers, the love for nature in general and for the forest in particular combined with the eagerness of the guests to learn, make the classes and guided tours an unforgettable experience.
